Infotechnics have secured a contract to supply their operational logging and reporting software Opralog to US company ISO New England.
ISO New England is a private not for profit corporation, responsible for the day to day operation of New England's bulk power generation system. The company has 6.5 million electricity customers and has a 31,000 MW installed generation capacity.
Opralog will be deployed to the ISONE distribution centre, where it will replace the existing logging application. Mike Knowland Snr Operations Engineer for ISONE said "The previous logging system met our basic requirements but we were looking for a solution that would improve our efficiency, Opralog does this in a number of ways by improving the consistency of logs, the quality and our ability to add supporting information to each log entry".
The contract is a significant step for Infotechnics as they continue to establish their presence in the USA. Speaking of the award Infotechnics Business Development Director Jon Howard said "We are delighted that ISO New England has selected Opralog. The system will provide a central database for key operational information, with a quick and easy method of capturing data allowing it to be automatically shared, reported and accessed."
Jon continued, "This contract win with ISO New England emphasises the need for solutions such as Opralog around the world. There is growing demand from organisations to integrate their business systems in order to improve safety, profitability and efficiency. In particular, systems designed to improve communication and safety across an asset are especially relevant in the wake of incidents such as Deepwater Horizon, Buncefield and Texas City. Public concern around the world has been raised about asset integrity and process safety and regulators today are looking for companies to demonstrate that they have tools and systems in place to provide effective control mechanisms."
